I’m not one of those guys who got all hot under the collar and pissed off when indie darling Liz Phair released (gasp) two commercial records on a major label. Maybe it’s because I enjoy an engaging pop tune more than those so-called broad minded critics, or maybe it’s because I think musical artists’ primary function is to explore those things creatively that they want to explore rather feeling like they owe it to their fans to stick themselves in a pigeon hole. Could I have done without H.W.C. from her self-titled 2003 release? Sure. But maybe it was her favorite song on the CD. No musician owes me anything when they decide to record.

Pop-star papa Joe Simpson, or someone in his employ, is being eyed by at least one “record industry source” for having leaked a copy of Mariah Carey’s upcoming E=MC2 CD onto internet file sharing sites according to a report at MSNBC.com.
Mariah Carey’s E=MC2 has leaked to the internet 10 days before its April 15 release date according to web reports.
Four demonstration (demo) tracks purported to be songs from Kelly Clarkson’s upcoming album have been leaked (or stolen, depending on what you believe) and released online.

Pop star Beyoncé Knowles and rap mogul Jay-Z were issued a marriage license in Scarsdale, NY Tuesday morning, according to People Magazine. Beyoncé’s people had the traditional “no comment,” while Jay-Z’s couldn’t even be reached to comment one way or the other. The marriage license is valid for 60 days, meaning we may see the couple married by the end of May.
The couple, who have reportedly been dating since 2002, have been reluctant to ever publicly acknowledge anything about their relationship.
A 2006 rumor that the couple was about to marry was quickly denied by the couples’ representatives. Their silence on this round of rumors is seen as tacit acknowledgment that they are true.
